Workshop will consist of a cross-generational discussion of the history of Chicana Feminism including historical and political events, and contributions of art, music, and literature leading to the establishment of the collective identity, basic characteristics that differentiate Chicana Feminists from mainstream feminism, as well as contrasting politics among Chicanas and they're position in the overall Chicano movement. Focus on the principals of Xicana Feminist's will explore how these served as a catalyst for social, cultural, and political change for Mexican Americans and the underpinnings of modern Chicana feminist theory for the formation of cross alliance political activism amongst various politics and identities including ethnic backgrounds, gender, sexuality, nationalities, class, and generational differences.

How do you produce a radio news program or public access show, publish a blog or independent newspaper, work with a record label or book a tour for your band, and what prior experience is necessary? This hands-on workshop will go over the basics of producing independent media with speakers who will offer an overview of their media experience providing their best and worst practices, with a Q&A platica following the discussion.

Professional rollergirls will host a discussion with video footage from their 2006 season, and answer all FAQ's of the curious skater to be. There will be a limited number of seats available, and all space will be first-come, first-served. Official Alamo City Rollergirl recruiters will be available to enlist skaters for the upcoming 2007 season.

Considered a leading performer and instructor of Middle Eastern (belly) dancing, Karen Barbee Adkisson is owner and operator of San Antonio's Karavan Studio. A native San Antonian who has been dancing for 25 years, Karen and her Karavan Dance Troupe have performed to widespread praise not only in Texas, but also throughout the country. Founded in 1990 and now home to more than 100 students interested in learning the art of Middle Eastern Dance, Karen and her Karavan Troupe have won several dance awards and were recently singled out for critical acclaim by famed New York choreographer Margo Sappington for their performance in the Showcase of San Antonio Dance.
